Matt founded Casechek when he couldn’t find a hospital that was happy with how they managed vendors and vendor inventory. Thanks to loyal customers and their amazing feedback, what started as simple software solution in December of 2014, is now a comprehensive platform and service used by leading institutions and healthcare systems across the country.
Prior to starting Casechek, Matt spent most of his career in sales and marketing roles for healthcare startups and medical device companies. He grew up in his favorite city, Toronto, Canada and somehow made his way to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. While at Miami, Matt played football and graduated with a double major in Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management. Not to be outdone by his studious parents, Matt went back to school and earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Matt lives in Chicago’s West Loop with his amazing wife Margo, their two over-active children and Jost.
Mike leads our development team and oversees system architecture. He joined Casechek at its inception and built our initial platform from scratch. He has an intimate and detailed understanding of the gaps and inefficiencies in the ortho/spine supply chain. Prior to joining Casechek, he single handedly built the software platform Zimmer Canada uses to manage its inventory.
Mike will tell you that he’s Canadian even though he sounds thoroughly English and drinks tea instead of coffee (most of the time). He graduated with honors from the University of East Anglia (UK) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Adam oversees Casechek’s customer operations to ensure every user gets the most out of the system. He works with our customers using his karate training (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) to install and leverage Casechek as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Before joining Casechek, Adam spent 5 years in operations and process improvement positions with R1 RCM, a hospital revenue cycle management firm. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University, and has since parted ways with his aspiration of attending dental school to join the family tree of Orthodontists.
Heidi makes sure our platform is awesome and that everyone knows about it! She keeps the development team in line through sprint-segmented project management and rainbow colored flow charts. Heidi’s been to all seven continents and loves breakfast sandwiches.
Prior to joining us, Heidi spent 5 years at Stryker in quality engineering and business analytics. She coupled her biomedical engineering degree at Duke with a minor in art history and received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Joe leads backend software development and drives system quality, integrity and scalability. When Joe is not behind a keyboard, he can be found behind a guitar, most often with The Mizzerables or Klingon Pop Warrior (yes, you read that correctly). Joe holds a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University and an MBA from DePaul University where he graduated with distinction.
Aaron makes sure our products and services exceed customer needs. Prior to Casechek, Aaron spent over 6 years at Sg2, where he partnered with health systems and their suppliers to create future-focused strategic plans. When not working, Aaron is usually deep in a sci-fi or fantasy book series. He’ll frequently choose reading the next chapter over sleep or seeing other humans.
Aaron graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and is pursuing his MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He currently resides in Chicago where he manages a list of the best places to get crispy french fries.
Brad was the first member of Casechek’s Sales team and leads business development in the Southeast. A Cleveland native, Brad graduated from Miami University with a degree in Finance. After suffering through half a dozen Chicago winters, Brad had enough and migrated south to spend his days basking in the Florida sun.
Prior to Casechek, Brad was a top 5 rep at Stryker Endoscopy and he has also managed various business ventures outside of medical. Brad lives in Winter Park, Florida with his wife and family.
David is responsible for business development in the Midwest and Northeast. When he’s not powerlifting, he’s driving adoption of Casechek’s transformative platform. David’s hobby as an artist has also led to vast improvements in Casechek’s marketing materials.
Prior to joining Casechek, he spent 4 years in healthcare analytics and business development at Stryker, where he drove U.S. Sales for their Surgical Services Optimization Platform. David was also responsible for the financial and operational analyses of more than 100 hospitals.
David earned a Bachelor of Art in Human Sciences – Kinesiology from Carthage College. He resides in Chicago, IL with his wife Jenna, their adorable son Vince, and beloved dog Pia.
Gretchen keeps our hospitals happy and drives rep compliance. She turned account implementation into a science – it’s also her favorite part of the job!
Gretchen graduated from Ole Miss where she majored in Pre-Med Biology and minored in Business Administration. She lives in Chicago and spends her time swimming with sharks, eating in Chinatown, and playing every sport possible (without tearing her ACL… again).
Stephanie works day and night to remove the burden of managing vendors for our customers. She also has the coveted distinction as being the most competitive team member at Casechek.
Stephanie graduated from Miami University, where she competed as a Division I full scholarship swimmer. She was selected as an All-Conference performer during each of her 4 years at Miami and holds the school record in the 100m breast stroke. All of those early morning swims make the 5am case review phone calls to our customers a breeze!
Brendan comes to Casechek from the beautiful San Francisco Bay area. His passion and persistence around eliminating the stresses of vendor inventory makes him a great addition to our team. Previously a software consultant at a tech firm, Brendan does not shy away from those lengthy IT conversations.
Brendan graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a degree in Marketing. He played on the Men’s Lacrosse team, where he earned All-Conference Honors all 4 years. In his free time, Brendan likes to play golf and ride his mountain bike.
Kaylee is responsible for leveraging Casechek customer data to improve vendor performance and process efficiency. She leads report generation, client data analysis and performance reviews. If you spend a lot of time with Kaylee, you are likely to think you’re the funniest person alive. That’s because she’s always laughing.
Prior to joining Casechek, Kaylee worked for the Huron Consulting Group as a Healthcare Performance Improvement Analyst. Kaylee was a James Scholar at the University of Illinois College of Applied Health Sciences. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois in Health Planning and Administration with a Minor in Business.
Patrick leads the frontend development efforts at Casechek. His strong preference for the design and development of seemingly simple interfaces drives Casechek’s intuitive user experience. He has been building software solutions for the past nine years with the last four focused entirely on healthcare applications. His experience and background from marketing, quality assurance and product development in software have all contributed to his efficient development practice.
Patrick has been a volunteer and helped Startup Weekend Chicago as a technical mentor and has been a lead organizer since 2013. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing from the University of Washington.
Darren rounds out Casechek’s development team with two degrees in poetry from Macalester College and Brown University. He once convinced approximately 80% of his college professors to accept poems instead of papers. Don’t ask about the other 20%.
For some reason, he make himself do triathlons and learned how to swim using Youtube. He also refuses to wear a wetsuit, even if Lake Michigan is below 60. When he’s not entering triathlons, you can find him reading. His library fines have exceeded $300 but don’t tell the city of Chicago. It’s a problem.
Darren thinks code is magic and should be used for good, especially in a world that sometimes feels like a big, lonely pressure cooker. He’s passionate about building systems and designing user experiences that help people feel seen, productive, and ready to make the world better.
James rounds out Casechek’s development team, specializing in the backend. He brings an academic perspective and joins us from the Institute for Genome Sciences where he built software for initiatives like the Human Microbiome Project and Genome Visualization. James has a knack for problem solving and is excited to tackle healthcare’s messiest challenges head on. He holds a MS in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins and BS in Biology from Loyola University.
Javier joined Casechek to add some creative flare to the dev team. He’s super passionate about the user experience and has the eye to turn our crazy design ideas into reality.
Prior to Casechek, Javier worked in the advertising world and crafted websites for household brands like Whirlpool and Jenn Air. With a degree in acoustical engineering from Columbia College Chicago, he’s always on the lookout for the next big thing in music. We hope it’s his band – everyone wants to know a rockstar!
Labeled a visionary by his peers, Jost works tirelessly to improve the team’s mental wellness. Having perfected his work-life balance, Jost excels at the art of tail wagging, listening and sleeping. His unique and avant-garde approach to human interaction has elevated him to the top of his field.
Described as the nicest Chief Wellness Officer on earth, it’s no surprise Jost hails from Toronto, Canada. When not driving corporate happiness or reading, he enjoys yoga, long walks on the beach and spa days.
