OhioHealth Selects Casechek in Support of Quality and Affordability Initiative
CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–OhioHealth, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health system, selected Casechek, a Chicago based company focused on implant supply chain automation, to support several critical programs. Casechek launched at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital in August of this year. As part of its Quality and Affordability Initiative, OhioHealth will continue to implement Casechek’s platform across its care sites.
“OhioHealth wanted to enhance and streamline processes for implant supplier communication, case coordination, and traceability of vendor owned inventory. Time previously spent by our clinical teams managing surgical implant inventory has now been redirected to support patient-centered initiatives”
Like all busy health systems, OhioHealth’s clinical teams devoted extensive resources to the coordination and management of medical devices and the vendors who supplied them. Despite advancements in implant technology, the systems used to procure and manage these devices have remained largely unchanged. “With OhioHealth’s growing procedural volumes, we recognized that our current vendor management processes weren’t sustainable long term,” says Jason Guagenti, OhioHealth Senior Director of Operations.
“OhioHealth wanted to enhance and streamline processes for implant supplier communication, case coordination, and traceability of vendor owned inventory. Time previously spent by our clinical teams managing surgical implant inventory has now been redirected to support patient-centered initiatives,” commented Nikki Ross, OhioHealth System Director, Sterile Processing.
“Delivering the highest quality of care efficiently to our patients is central to everything we do. Automated systems and processes that improve documentation and information flow help us achieve these standards. With Dublin Methodist Hospital as a model, OhioHealth will implement Casechek across its care sites over the remainder of its fiscal year,” added Christy Newland, OhioHealth Director, Sterile Processing.
“We feel both fortunate and proud to collaborate with OhioHealth in its advancement of the implant supply chain. There is a huge opportunity to automate all implant related processes and we’re just getting started. The existing distribution model is broken and needs to change, but change doesn’t come without mutual trust and creative problem solving. Partners like OhioHealth make disruptive innovation possible,” stated Matt Brandt, Casechek Founder and CEO.
